Borough Film Funds

Film London's London Borough Film Fund Challenge (LBFFC), supported by the Mayor of London, is a short film-making scheme open to residents of the participating boroughs. Working in partnership with the capital's local authorities it aims to discover grassroots talent, stimulate local film-making and develop new skills.

This year more boroughs than ever before will be involved in the LBFFC with 23 boroughs taking part. Film London has also launched a new element to the scheme: Film London in 90 Seconds.

The LBFFC will be run in film fund partnerships (full details below) and residents from the following local authorities will be eligible to apply: Barking & Dagenham, Bexley, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Kensington & Chelsea, Lambeth, Lewisham, Newham, Redbridge, Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, Wandsworth and Westminster.

The LBFFC Film London in 90 Seconds is a competition offering £300 for the best film from each borough. Barnet, Havering, Hounslow, Richmond-upon-Thames, Merton, Islington and Sutton will be opening the competition later this year and we hope to announce even more boroughs soon.

Film London's Best of Boroughs Film Awards (aka the BoBs) 2009
13 films produced through the 2008 LBFFC were shortlisted for the Best of Borough Film Awards (aka the BoBs) which took place at BAFTA in July 2009. Gurinder Chadha, BoBs patron and award-winning director, presented awards to two winning teams. A Jury Award, selected by representatives from the film industry, was received by Alex Taylor for Kids Might Fly (Hackney - New Pathways Film Fund). The Audience Award was selected by members of the public who viewed and voted for their favourite short on the Film London website. Over 4,000 people voted and Daisy's Last Stand (Enfield - North London Film Fund), directed by Gary Grant, was a clear winner with almost a quarter of the votes. For more information read the full press release about the 2009 BoBs.
