Locations

London offers a fantastic range of locations from historic country houses to modern and minimalist loft conversions, from urban cityscapes to riverside locations, from rooftop panoramic views to underground tunnels, from hi-tech futuristic offices to woodlands and parks. London also doubles often for other parts of the world such as the US, Russia and many European countries.

The Locations Team are here to give advice and support to all projects and are always on hand to do location searches for you - this includes the creation of folios that offer a link to images and contact details that you can send on direct to clients. The locations service also provides:

  • Access to a free online search for locations, providing information and pictures of approximately 3,500 locations in all 33 London boroughs and the surrounding area. The locations accessible online represent a selection of the 6,000 that can be viewed in our locations library. The library is open from Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm. Please note: in all cases you will need to contact the location owner directly to negotiate fees and availability.

  • An opportunity to join the locations library. If you are a location owner and would like to register your property in our library you can download the Location Registration Form as a Word document or PDF (see below for downloads). We offer further guidance in the Advice for Location Owners section below.

  • An Availability Service for location managers, scouts, assistant location managers and unit managers. We also have a crew database that is free to join.

  • Contact details and approximate charges for some of the most famous London Landmarks. Please download the Orgs&Agencies list for full information (see below for downloads).

  • Floor plans and contact details of some Popular Locations, including parkland, pedestrianised areas and bridges.

  • We also highlight interesting outside spaces and buildings available for filming in our Location of the Month.

Advice for Location Owners

If you are considering putting your property up for filming there are a few things that require consideration. Firstly, you will need to register your property in our Locations Library by completing and returning the signed Location Registration Form as a hard copy document. 

We would be grateful if you could supply approximately 10 up-to-date digital images of the property to give us a good overall view of the location. Please refer to the document entitled How to Take Location Photographs for general advice on how to approach this task. You may post the images with the completed Location Registration Form or email them to us at: locationslibrary@filmlondon.org.uk.
