  • Diary service
Film London puts members' CVs forward for work.

We are well known in the industry for our locations services and regularly receive enquiries from productions, domestic and international.

Since the beginning of 2009, we recommended just over 400 people for work in locations. We are approached by people across the board from those making short films; pop promos; commercials; documentaries and stills, through to TV and feature films.

From our records we see who is available and send relevant CVs of members. The production company then makes a selection based on this information.

In order for the diary service to work successfully for you, we request you to keep us updated with your availability (including when you are working, as well as when you are not) and a current CV.*
  • Locations searches
The team is here to give advice and support to all projects and are always on hand to do location searches for you. This includes the creation of folios that offer a link to images and contact details that you can send on direct to clients (please note: this service applies to members and non-members of the ASLM).

In addition, you can search directly on our online library of locations which is ever growing (currently 4,000). You are also very welcome to visit our physical library which has approximately 6,000 locations or call the team directly on 020 7613 7683 if you have a specific location request.

  • Priority inclusion in our 'pool of location managers'
Film London proactively attracts international productions and works hard to secure filming in the capital. When productions are in the initial stages of deciding where to base their production Film London can assign a location manager from the pool to work with us and them.

This will include scouting and arranging recces for the producer and director. Film London covers the cost for this. Once a production has been secured here, the production company often go on to hire a location manager from the pool.

We also assign ASLM members to other types of productions, such as international television programmes.

  • Desk Space
We offer the opportunity to work from our offices - with WI FI access. Just call us in advance to book a desk. Come and make use of our locations library, or simply chat to the team for advice and assistance.

We have contacts at virtually all of the major organisations and agencies in London so can mediate when required.

We also have a white board of key TV and feature film projects currently shooting in London.

  • Access to a quarterly locations newsletter
This is published online and is password protected. The newsletter features new and re-discovered locations and a themed location section such as Accident & Emergency or Stately Homes & Education. Each quarter Screen South and Screen East are invited to contribute features. We also welcome copy for our feature pieces that focus on everything from commercials to drama and feature productions - please do get in touch if you have any good stories of shooting in London.

  • Quarterly Networking Opportunities
As of 2009 we have been hosting an open evening in our offices from 7-9pm. All our Availability Service members are invited, as well as Borough Film Officers, the Metropolitan Police Film Unit, and members of organisations and agencies.

  • Industry Voice
Opportunities will be offered to participate as part of an industry panel at key forums that we organise - e.g. Costs Forum and Heritage Forum.

  • Hot-off-the-press information regarding locations news, via an ASLM email distribution list.

  • Automatic subscription to the weekly Film London bulletin.

* Most members also choose to have their details available online in the Crew Directory. This free service enables you to update your own information and credits, and will allow us to keep track of your availability.
